BCC CATALOG: March 2010

I was striving to implement the principles of emphasis , contrast , alignment , flow, repetition and balance. For emphasis i wanted your eye to go right to the Broome community college picture. For contrast i used certain colors that would stand out against the black back round. Alignment i had the BCC logo match up with the word catalog in the top right corner. For flow i have not implied that technique. For my final i am going to use flow and repetition. My design is balanced for the most part but im going to add more things in it for my final.

My design reflects the mission of the college because it shows the everyday life on campus. I have used emphasis , contrast , alignment , flow , repetition and balance to visually communicate what the college wants expressed. My design would engage the appropriate audience to view the catalog and what Broome community college has to offer. For emphasis i wanted the viewers eye to go right to the Broome Community college picture. Second i wanted to the viewers eye to go the rapid fire of pictures of the left hand side of the catalog. For Contrast i used the same colors from the brick as the font color , it contrasts well against the black back round. For alignment i have the rapid fire of pictures aligned the long rectangle on the right side of the catalog. I have implied flow using the rapid fire of pictures this illustrates movement and repetition. Over all i think my design is well balanced nothing is crowded or top heavy.
